Detailed itinerary of 6 days chimps, gorillas and lake kivu tour
Day 1: drive to Volcanoes National Park
Arrive at Kigali International Airport where you will be welcomed by your professional tour guide who will drive you around Kigali, enabling you to enjoy this great country of rolling hills. Later, you will proceed to Virunga National Park located in the North of Ruhengeri via which has beautiful terraced hills showing a clear picture of the general landscape and altitude of Rwanda. Later, head to the hotel or lodge to rest and have dinner.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in volcanoes national park
Early morning after breakfast on day 2 of 6 days chimps, gorillas and a lake kivu tour, the drive to the park’s headquarters to catch briefing time, led by the ranger guide of the park talking about the rules and regulations and guidelines about the park and the gorillas at large. Later, with your packed lunch, you will hit the rainforest to hike the volcano hills to find gorillas.
The hilly trails are slippery, making the hike quite challenging calling tourists to be physically fit. Carry sticks, wear comfortable shoes with your rain jackets in order to enjoy your trek. While finding gorillas, enjoy the birdlife, other primates, golden monkeys, and the green vegetation among others. Upon finding the gorillas, enjoy them for one hour, where you will take pictures with them, feed them, and study them among others. Later, trek back to the headquarters, rest a bit and then drive back to the lodge to freshen up and rest.
DAY 3: visit and explore Lake Kivu
After breakfast,on day 3 of 6 days chimps, gorillas and a lake kivu tour enjoy driving to Lake Kivu for relaxation and a canoe ride to the hot springs. Lake Kivu is one of the East African Lakes which can give you relaxation after your gorilla trekking experience in Rwanda and visiting Lake Kivu will allow you to experience a great sunset and sun downer views combined with seeing fishermen on their traditional boats.
DAY 4 Travel to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast,on day 6 days Chimpanzee Tracking in Nyungwe and lake kivu, you will drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park and the road to the Park is designed to give you great views of Lake Kivu. Arrive in lunch time, and enjoy lunch with beautiful views of the lake, relax, have dinner and overnight at the lodge of your choice.
DAY 5: Chimpanzee Trek or Canopy Walk
After breakfast, drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park headquarters for briefing head by park rangers and then hit the forest for either Chimpanzee trekking or Canopy walking. Choose either of the activities mentioned above or later after your Chimpanzee trek or Canopy walk, then drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY 6: To Kigali via Butale National Museum
On the last day of 6 days Chimpanzee Tracking in Nyungwe and lake kivu after breakfast, you will drive back to Kigali via Butale to visit the National Museum and later you will arrive in Kigali Late afternoon for your late departure flight out.
