Detailed Itinerary of the 10 Days Golden Monkeys, Dian Fossey and Chimpanzee Tour

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park for Golden Monkey Tracking

On arrival at the Kigali International Airport you are picked up by a driver guide who transfers you to Volcanoes National Park for a period of 2 to 3 hours for Golden Monkey Tracking. When you reach the Park proceed to the headquarters for briefing then after track the Golden Monkeys for 2-4 hours along the various trails then later proceed to check-in your lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Day 2: Dian Fossey Hike along Bisoke Volcano

Day 2 of 10 Days Golden Monkeys Dian Fossey & Chimpanzee Tour, Wake up have breakfast then transfer to hike to the Dian Fossey Tomb at the Karisoke Research Centre where you learn about Dian Fossey who sacrificed her life to save that of the Mountain Gorillas that were killed for meat at the time. After learning about the Gorillas and the foundation, proceed back to your lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Hotel Muhabura.

Day 3: Transfer to Iby’iwachu Cultural Centre and Community Walk

Wake up have breakfast on day 3 0f 10 Days Golden Monkeys Dian Fossey & Chimpanzee Tour, then transfer to the Iby’iwachu Cultural Centre to enjoy Cultural Encounters through Music, Dance and Drama. The Local dancers entertain you and tell you various stories regarding the Gorillas as well as their livelihood. After the cultural encounter, proceed on a guided community walk then later return back to your lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Hotel Muhabura.

Day 4: Transfer to Gisenyi for City Tour, Waterfall Hike and Boat Cruise

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to Gisenyi for a City Tour then proceed on a waterfall Hike and a Boat Cruise along the stunning Lake Kivu. Along the cruise, watch various islands in a distance, birds then later transfer to check-in your lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Lake Kivu Serena Hotel.

Day 5: Enjoy the Congo Nile Trail Drive & Transfer to Kibuye at Genocide Church

Wake up have breakfast then transfer on a drive along the Congo Nile Trail which is 227 km (141 mile) route which stretches along the shore of Lake Kivu in Western Rwanda from Gisenyi / Rubavu in the north to Cyangugu in the south. After you drive, break off for lunch then to Kibuye to visit the Genocide Church where you learn about the victims of the tragic Genocide that took many people’s lives. After the adventure, return back to your lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Cormoran Lodge.

Day 6: Optional Boat Cruise in Kibuye

Wake up have breakfast then proceed on an optional Boat Cruise along Lake Kivu then later, proceed back to your lodge for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Cormoran Lodge.

Day 7: Transfer to Nyungwe via Rusizi Town

Wake up have breakfast then transfer tp Nyungwe Forest National Park via Rusizi Town. En-route enjoy views of the green forest vegetation terrain, birds then later arrive at the Park and check-in your lodge for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Hill Top View Lodge.

Day 8: Chimpanzee Tracking in Nyungwe Forest National Park

Wake up early have breakfast then transfer to the Park headquarters for briefing on the code of conduct around the Chimpanzees then later in groups of 8 with a park ranger, enter the forest to track the Chimpanzees for 2- 4hours in the forest and when you meet them, only an hour is allowed in their presence taking photos to keep for memories. After Chimpanzee tracking, return back to your lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Hill Top View Lodge.

Day 9: Waterfall Hike and Canopy Walk in Nyungwe

Wake up have breakfast then proceed on a guided nature walk to visit the Isumo waterfalls in Nyungwe then later break off for lunch. After the waterfall hike, transfer to enjoy a Canopy Walk along the Canopy walkway in Nyungwe watching monkeys, gigantic trees as well as birds in the forest then later proceed to your lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Day 10: Departure to Kigali

Wake up have breakfast then with your luggage, embark on a transfer to Kigali International Airport where you board your flight back home
