Detailed itinerary to explore Rwanda and Uganda on 10 days safari

Day 1: Airport Pickup on arrival and transfer to hotel

On the 1st day of 10 days Rwanda Uganda safaris, Your driver guide will be waiting for you at the airport to transfer you to the hotel. On your arrival, our guide will welcome you and brief you about your day and then drive you through the streets of Entebbe or Kampala where you will experience different attractions like tourism centers, malls, Lake Victoria among others. You will reach the hotel of your choice where you will have dinner and an overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park for Rhinos

After an early breakfast, you will head to Murchison Falls national park and on your way; you will visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary which was established to save Uganda’s last Rhinos due to prolonged and uncontrolled poaching. lodge, Pakuba lodge or red chili rest camp depending on your choice.

Rhino tracking is the main activity plus spotting crocodiles, birds and small primates. You will have lunch at Amuka lodge and then proceed to Murchison falls national park and when you reach the park, you will hike to the top of the falls to experience the amazing sights and sounds of the roaring falls. You will then have a night and dinner at Paraa safari lodge, Pakuba lodge or red chili rest camp depending on your choice.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Early morning after breakfast, you will start off with your driver guide to head to Kibale national park which is a long journey giving you a chance to admire the beauty of Africa and specifically Uganda like; countryside, landscapes, lakes and rivers, forests, crater lakes, towns, local people and a lot more. You will have an en-route lunch before you proceed to Kibale forest where you will check in a booked lodge. Upon reaching Kibale and after checking in, you will be guided to Bigodi wetlands sanctuary to explore primates and the local people around who will present to you their way of life which is interesting. At the end of the day, you will head back to the lodge for a night and dinner.

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking and Queen Elizabeth national park transfer

Early morning after your hot coffee, you will head in Kibale national park offices in order to bit the time for the briefing with other fellow tourists which is done by the park guides which starts at 8. You will then be guided with your packed lunch and a bottle of water in the rain forests by the park guide and ranger guide to track for these chimps and this activity has no specific time to find the chimps since they may be a bit far. However, when found, tourists are given specifically one hour to spend with these primates, feeding them, taking pictures and more.

You will later come back to the offices and head back to the lodge to freshen up and prepare to transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park where you will see birds, primate species while driving and the guide will give you a chance to take photography. Later, you will reach the park; check in for your stay.

Day 6: Game drive and boat cruise

Early in the morning on day six of explore Rwanda and Uganda on 10 days safari the driver will pick you up and head for a morning game drive which is an interesting activity where you will see nocturnal mammals, big cats waking up with birds. You will see hippos, buffalos, lions, hartebeests among others when the day gets brighter. Day 7: Visit to Lake Bunyonyi  and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Park

On day seven, of 10 days exploring Uganda and Rwanda, you will spend your day exploring the naturally beautiful places like lake Bunyonyi which has about 29 islands and tourists can have a chance to tour them. This area is naturally green, with romantic beaches explored on boat, and birds are the most beautifiers on this place leaving you amazed with different species making Lake Bunyonyi the best place for relaxation when on your safari. After enjoying the great lake Bunyonyi, you will transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest park for your gorilla adventure. You will check in for your stay and dinner in your booked hotel.

Day 8: Mountain gorilla trekking at Bwindi and transfer to Volcanoes National Park Rwanda

Early morning after breakfast, you will head to the park offices with your packed lunch and a bottle of water for a briefing which talks about these gorillas, and then you will be divided into groups and set off in the forest for trekking.

Trekking gorilla is based on age and tourists are advised to be fit since it requires walking or hiking for long hours depending on the location of the gorillas. Gorilla trekking is an adventurous activity that will leave you with a great experience where you move through the thick vegetation, trees and muddy trails which requires you to put on comfortable hiking shoes and when you find these primates, you will take an hour will them to take photography, feed them, study them and more. Later, you will come back to the offices for your trekking certificates and head back to the lodge to freshen up, and then proceed to cross to Rwanda and head to volcanoes national park.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking and Iby’iwachu Cultural Village

Early morning, after breakfast, you will head to volcanoes national park and head to the park since the briefing starts at around 7am. Volcanoes national park has about 10 families and the groups are based on fitness of the tourists. The trekking takes time therefore tourists are advised to carry water and snack to keep energy and when the gorillas are found, tourists are given one hour to associate with them inform of taking photography, feeding them, studying them and more. Later, you will head back to the lodge for lunch and rest.

In the afternoon, you will visit the center showcase of cultural heritage of Banyarwanda called the gorilla guardian village which is an organized center where tourists are welcomed to participate in the presentations and also dress in the cultural costumes. This activity is very active and joyous where tourists take pictures and they are always given a guide who translates for you from Kinyarwanda to English. Later, head back to the lodge for dinner and night.

Day 10: Golden monkey tracking and Departure

On day the last day of explore Rwanda and Uganda on 10 days safari You will wake up early to head to the park for a briefing about golden monkey tracking which are very beautiful primates and endangered. These are playful and move in large troops with their gold coats making them unique from other primates in the park. After tracking, you will depart back through Kigali city offering you the most beautiful rolling hills, tea plantations, green sceneries among others.
