3 Days Gorilla Habituation Tour F rom Kigali:  Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda is the best destination for this three-day gorilla habituation experience tour.  This is because this is the only place where the gorilla habituation experience is done in East Africa. This park is also home to the world’s largest mountain gorilla population.

The gorilla habituation process involves making gorillas get used to human presence. During the exercise researchers and local trackers follow up the gorillas at different intervals for over 2-3years until the gorillas feel at ease with human presence.  The researchers make sure that they first get the acceptance of the dominant silverback then the other members will follow as they see their leader is comfortable with human presence. Several tests are also made to ensure safety before tourists visits the gorilla family.

The gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi is only carried out in Rushaga sector. Unlike the normal gorilla trekking, tourist who participate in the habituation exercise visit a group that is not fully habituated and are allowed to stay in presence of the gorillas for four hours, only 4 trekkers are allowed to join the researchers for this activity, and the habituation permit costs $1500.

Details of the safari.

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the trip. You will get into one nice eatery for breakfast in Kigali, pack some crunchies and then set off for a 4-5hour drive to Bwindi National Park in Rushaga sector via Cyanika/Katuna border. Arrival will be in the afternoon, check in and have a relaxation meal.

Its time is by your side, visit the Batwa community, listen to the traditional story telling, songs, dances and other cultural demonstrations before returning to the accommodation.

Day 2: Gorilla habituation experience

You will rise for an early morning breakfast and then transfer to the park head quarters in Rushaga sector. At this park center, you will receive a briefing about gorilla habituation, the dos and don’ts about the activity.

Later, in groups of 4 trekkers, join up with the ranger guides and researchers into the jungle to meet a semi – habituated gorilla family. In this activity, you will have a close encounter with gorillas. Once you come across the gorilla family, you will spend 4 hours viewing them, listening to the researchers and rangers as they provide more information about the gorillas and their habitat, learning about their lifestyle, and taking memorable photos and videos. after the activity, return to the starting point to meet your guide to transfer you to the lodge for lunch and relax for the evening, dinner and night stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Kigali with an optional Kigali City tour.

After an early morning breakfast, checkout and return to Kigali. If you have enough time before your departure flight, visit the Kigali Genocide Museum to learn the history about the 1994 Rwanda genocide, Kimironko market and a craft centre for souvenirs.

Then transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
