2 Days Budget Gorilla Safari in Uganda from Rwanda offers you incredible experiences as you track the rare species of Mountain Gorillas.  It’s really a once- in -a – lifetime adventure to get up close, see and learn about these wild gentle giants in their natural habitat. The trip starts and ends in Rwanda.

Gorilla tracking in Uganda is carried out in two gorilla parks, that is Mgahinga Gorilla National Park which is part of the Virunga massif and Bwindi Impenetrable National park.  Gorilla tracking in Uganda depends on availability of gorilla permits in particular tracking sector.

Mgahinga national park has only one gorilla tracking center that is Ntebeko if you are to track gorillas from Rwanda. If you are travelling to Mgahinga National Park, cross via Cyanika border to Kisoro and later connect to the park.

Bwindi National Park has four sectors, each with a starting center and these are Buhoma, Nkuringo, Rushaga and Ruhija.  Your routing from Kigali is determined by the availability of gorilla permits.  If your tracking destination is Rushaga sector, you are advised to

cross via Cyanika border, while if you are proceeding to either Ruhija or Buhoma, Katuna border post is most ideal.

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi Forest National Park (3-5 hours drive)

Upon pick up from your respective hotel from Kigali, our guide will take you through a simple briefing about the 2 days gorilla trip in Uganda from Kigali and later start a relaxed drive through the rolling hills of Rwanda. Proceed to Cyanika boarder and cross to Uganda. This scenic drive takes 4-5 hours. On arrival, check in, relax at the lodge, have dinner and the overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking-trekking and transfer to Kigali.

Well prepared with your packed lunch, cameras, water, and well dressed in good and comfortable hiking gear, you will assemble at the park headquarters for briefing at 7:00 am, the park rangers that will provide knowledge/ information about gorilla tracking the great adventure and experience!  The park rangers will later lead you into the park jungles to search for a particular gorilla family. The time taken to encounter these peaceful primates is impulsive because it may take 1-6 hours. Nevertheless, on encounter, one may be forced to say, it is stunning!!!! After the adventure a trekking certificate will be rewarded to every successful trekker.  After the trek, drive back to the accommodation for lunch, check out, and return to Kigali.

What you need for your 2 days budget gorilla safari to Uganda from Rwanda.

• Rain jacket and warm sweater to manage the weather in the park. This is because the areas close to the park are very cold and weather is unpredictable. Rain comes at any time of the day regardless of the season.
• Sturdy hiking boots to keep you comfortable and help you navigate through the slippery terrain.
• Hand gloves to protect your hands from stinging nettles and pinches from thorny plants you can hold on as you trek.
• Drinking water and energizing snacks to help you remain fit for the activity.
• Long pants and along sleeved shirts will help to cover your body.
• You are also advised to hire a porter to help you carry your backpack throughout the trek. Porters are hired at $10 – $15 depending on the size of the pack.
