Golden monkeys are a rare group of endangered primates found in Virungas, characterized as being playful and attractive with unique yellow-orange (golden) patches that make them easily spotted as they jump in the trees. Golden monkeys reside in the bamboo vegetation zone and are easy to track compared to mountain gorillas. while in the Volcanoes National Park, you will visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus to learn about gorillas and the efforts of Dian Fossey, a great primatologist who worked hard to protect mountain gorillas and to conserve their natural habitat.

From Volcanoes National Park, you will proceed to Gisenyi, a place commonly referred to as the Rwandan Riviera, Gisenyi is the most visited area in Rwanda around Lake Kivu. Detailed Itinerary of the 4 days volcanoes and Gisenyi safari.
Day 1: Airport or Hotel pick up and transfer to Volcanoes National Park- afternoon visit to the
gorilla guardian’s village
On the first day of your 4 days volcanoes and Gisenyi safari, you will be picked up from the airport or hotel. After breakfast, he will take into a short briefing about the trip, you will later set off for a 2-3 hours journey to Musanze town. As you travel, enjoy the beautiful scenery of Rwanda’s beautiful rolling hills and valleys in the countryside. On arrival, check into the booked accommodation for lunch and simple relaxation.
In the afternoon hours, visit the Gorilla Guardians village, a home for reformed poachers and now advocate for gorilla protection. At this place enjoy the wonderful cultural and traditional performance of the marriage ceremony, the herbal medicine man, dress like a king or queen, and the best entertainment from the Intore dancers. You can buy some of their craft materials as souvenirs to support their lives and develop the place. Later return to the accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Golden Monkey Trekking and Ellen DeGeneres Campus
After an early morning breakfast, head to the park offices for a briefing about the golden monkey trekking expedition. After the briefing, you will be given walking sticks and then led by the park ranger guides into the bamboo forested areas. Tracking golden monkeys is a bit easier and takes less hours as compared to gorilla trekking. it takes 2-4 hours, when you find them, you must keep on following them slowly as they always jump from one tree to another foraging. When they are settled in one place, you will be allowed to observe them for one hour and take beautiful photos and short videos. After the trek, return to the starting point to meet your guide to drive you back to the hotel for lunch.
At the Ellen DeGeneres campus get to learn more about Diane Fossey and all her efforts for gorilla protection and conservation of their home. Watch gorilla films and read written information about Rwanda gorillas. As you depart, donate something to facilitate the development of the place. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight

Day3: Transfer to Gisenyi and go for a coffee plantation visit
After your breakfast, you will embark on your vehicle and drive to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi. After checking in, have lunch and move out for a boat ride to Nyamirundi coffee plantation to learn about coffee production, processing up to consumption. Get to interact with the locals and even have a taste of Rwandan coffee at the source. Return to the lake shores, enjoy the beautiful sunset as you relax at the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4:Morning cruise on Lake Kivu and return to Kigali.
After breakfast, move out for a morning boat cruise on lake Kivu for about 2 hours. Later return to the lodge , check out and travel back to Kigali to prepare for your flight.
