These 5 days of learning and discovering Rwanda will bring you to a small landlocked country in East Africa located in the Great Rift Valley of Central Africa. A safari of learning and discovering Rwanda will include a visit to the renowned national parks in Rwanda such as Volcanoes National Park, home to endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys, and Akagera National Park, where you will encounter countless wildlife on both a safari drive and boat cruise, and lake Kivu. This learning is incomplete if it does not involve visiting the Kigali memorial site where you will get to learn the history of Rwanda and the local market where you can purchase some gifts and souvenirs.

Detailed Itinerary of 5 days of learning and discovering Rwanda
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park
A well-trained and knowledgeable driver guide will pick you up from Kigali International Airport at 7:00 am. The driver guide will give you a short briefing then you proceed with your safari to Akagera National Park. Upon your arrival, you will enter the park after a short briefing and proceed on a game drive that will take you to a picnic point where you will have your lunch. After lunch, you will proceed on another game drive after which you will head to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Boat cruise then Transfer to Kigali
Day 2 of 5 days of learning and discovering Rwanda, After breakfast at 7:30 am, the driver guide will pick you up and take you to Lake Ihema where you will meet your guide on the boat. This will start at 9:00 am and you will spend 2 hours viewing the wildlife by water and you will see animals like hippos, crocodiles and birds such as the rare shoebill stork. After this, you will return to the lodge for lunch and organize yourself for the afternoon trip to Kigali. Dinner will be served on arrival at the hotel.
Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Accommodation: Five to Five Hotels.
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes and Gorilla Trek then Batwa visit
Day 3 of 5 days of learning and discovering Rwanda, check out of the hotel in Kigali at 4:00 am and embark on your journey to Volcanoes National Park with a packed meal. Once you arrive at the park headquarters, you will be briefed about the gorilla trekking rules after which in a group of 8 individuals and with a ranger guide, you will hike in search of the endangered mountain gorillas. This hike will take about 2-8 hours and once you find them you will be allowed 1 hour observing them. Carry enough water for this expedition. Not to worry, you can always hire a porter to assist with your luggage as well as support you during the hike.
You will return to the lodge in the afternoon for a bit of relaxation and later in the afternoon, you can either choose to relax or experience a new and interesting culture with a visit to the Batwa local community, a community of hunters and gatherers who originally inhabited the forests but were pushed out by the gorilla conservation programs. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner Accommodation: 5 Volcanoes Boutique Hotel
Day 4: Transfer to Lake Kivu
After a nourishing morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and with a packed lunch proceed to Lake Kivu. Upon arrival, you will take a boat ride to Amahoro Island where you will enjoy a picnic lunch and participate in the activities of the locals such as fishing and Napoleon Island with a great view and a colony of fruit bats. Check into the lodge in Kibuye for dinner and a night’s rest.

Day 5: Transfer to Kigali
Rise to a delicious morning breakfast after which you will check out of the lodge and embark on your journey to Kigali where you will either catch your flight home or be dropped off at your hotel. While in Kigali you will visit the various tourist attractions in this town such as Kigali genocide memorial site, the Belgian peacemaker memorial, the Kandt presidential museum, and the Kimironko market.
