Detailed Itinerary of the 6 Days Rwanda Uganda (Budget 2023) Gorilla Tour
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali Airport and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and greeted by our friendly driver guide who will brief you and take you through your trip plan. Before you know it, you will be transferred to Volcanoes national park where you will check in at Da Vinci gorilla lodge for relaxation, overnight stay and dinner. Five Volcanoes Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking at Volcanoes National Park
On this day, you will have a great time meeting with the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes national park! After a tasty breakfast, you guide will pick you from the lodge. You will head for briefing by ranger guides at 7:30 and at 8:30am with packed lunch.
You will start the trek to hunt for the gorillas and after finding them you will spend with them a maximum of 1 hour. This walk can take 4-5 hours depending on where you meet the gorillas. The park is steep, it is a real hiking and being physically fit is recommended. After trekking, you will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight. Five Volcanoes Lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Mgahinga National Park
After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will checkout and transfer from Virunga forest national park to Mgahinga a home to the mountain gorillas. Enjoy the winding roads of the “thousand hills” and magnificent views. You will spend some time at leisure at leisure in preparation for all the trekking and hiking in the days to come. Ikoro Lodge.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the briefing point inside park to learn about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. The ranger will then lead you to start your gorilla trek. Only one hour is permitted to you with the gorillas. Locating the gorillas can take a few hours or the whole day depending on where they spent the previous night. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch, relaxation and dinner. Ikoro Lodge.
Day 5: Golden monkey habituation
Golden monkey tracking starts at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park headquarters at 7:30 am for pre- tracking briefing (on the dos and don’ts of tracking the golden monkeys). The actual trek begins at 8:00 am. Hiking through the forests to sight the golden monkeys is not so strenuous like gorilla trekking because golden monkeys live in lower areas, so tourists do not track for more than 3 hours. When tourists encounter the golden monkey family, they are given one hour (0r 4 hours in case you are doing the habituation experience) to spend with them (to take photographs and observe their behavior). With this activity, there is no minimum number of tourists who track each group and age limit is 12 years. Dinner and Overnight. Ikoro Lodge.
Day 6: Game drive and transfer to the airport for your flight
After an early breakfast, it will be time for your final transfer from Mgahinga National Park to Entebbe international airport for your flight back home.
