Do not miss visiting Rwanda for the cheap primate safari

Great experience with a welcoming and professional staff. Who wouldn’t want to see and mingle near the great silverback gorillas? The journey is set up as levels 1-3 with 3 being the longer walk. However in reality, the families move around so sometime level 2 finishes before level 1. Not as much fun is to see the golden monkeys. It is worth seeing them but they aren’t the silverbacks.

I took a trip with cheap Rwanda Safaris to the mountain gorillas in 2010 and decided to organize my own trip there in 2013. After spending two weeks in Tanzania on the northern safari circuit it was so refreshing to see the green Rwanda country side. Tony was our driver/guide and he was superb! We kept him fairly busy driving us around and really wanted to get to see as much of the country as we could in the few short days we were there. Tony seemed to relish the idea of showing us as much of his country as we could fit in to 4 days. Rwandair cancelled flights on one of the days we planned to travel (that’s a whole different review) and we had to switch our whole Rwanda trip one day earlier, Primate Safaris understood and took care of the change very quickly! They also adjusted our gorilla trek dates without the usual $ 150 fee! Moses runs a 1st class operation and has wonderful people in the company.

We were met at the airport by the driver and another representative of the company and the driver stuck with us the entire time we were in country. He was a great source of information on history, current events, animals, where to go and pretty much any question we had.

From the initial enquiry until the day before I left, the communication, advice and information was fantastic. Annet was very helpful. Then upon arrival at Kigali airport in Rwanda, everything was organized seamlessly. Although a little pricey, as a female tourist travelling alone, I felt safe and didn’t have to worry about a thing. I had a tour guide Chris, who was amazing, passionate (also working in Gorilla conservation and hence very knowledge on the topic), as well as a driver William. They were extremely friendly, helpful, and great at English and covered everything the whole way. The trip was all inclusive and was definitely all inclusive (no hidden costs). So all meals, all accommodation and the gorilla permits etc everything was covered and Chris got me into a great trekking group.

I would highly recommend this tour company (they have a few websites), they definitely exceeded my expectations in professionalism and communication. Thank you for making my time in Rwanda an amazing, safe and memorable one!
